Did Morton Smith forge the Mar Saba Clementine letter, along with its quotations of a lost longer version of the Gospel of Mark? Did he, or didn’t he? Did he have the skill? The real question is when did he find it? If Smith found it several years before his 1958 "discovery," this could explain a lot of things that have puzzled scholars.
