In the late 1950s, Ford of Britain attempted to translate superb American style for the British market with the Consul Classic and its coupe variant, the Consul Capri, cars which faithfully carried over the astounding beauty of late 1950s American cars like the Ford Fairlane and Galaxie, but due to delays in delivery based on Ford's other priorities meant by the time it arrived in 1961, sporting many endearing systems and features, the car's aesthetic appeared already outdated, and it would be axed from sale after only three full years of production.
