Time ago I came across some interesting videos here on Youtube where the actual video's audio had been replaced by the one recorded by some kind of microphone/recording device placed inside the engine bay of various cars, turbocharged cars to be precise. I fell in love instantly hearing the turbines chirping and whistling perfectly.
I did a test with my crappy car, a Ford Fiesta, by placing a little lavalier microphone a few centimeters far from the intake pipe. The result wasn't bad at all but the problem was the car. Infact my plan was to merge the audio recorded inside the engine bay with a second audio taken from the exhaust, but I had to wait for a decent sounding car.
A few months ago I had the chance to test drive a Ford Focus RS Mk3. Perfect opportunity. So here is the result! Video is quite boring, I know, but I didn't want to exceed too much due to the speed limits and because my only concern was to test the microphone.
When I understood the two audio tracks were good, I had another problem: how do I edit it? Well, this led me to split this video in various parts and you will tell me which one you prefer.
For the beginning till 3:38 (plus other parts of the video) you have both the engine and the exhaust sounds merged together and on both audio channels (left and right). This seems to me the best one but why not trying to place the turbo sounds on your left ear and the exhaust on the right? It's what I did from 3:39 to 6:07 and from 6:34 to 6:59. Last but not the least I also tried to only use the in-engine audio, you can find it at 7:44-8:08 and from 9:06 to 10:25.

A quite decent run of a short special stage with the RGT-class Porsche 997 GT3 RS. Cleaning the lines and trusting more the machine in the final mixed section, I should lower my personal best of 3-4 seconds. Not the best car in the game to be honest. Feels a bit heavy..

As I did in my previous video with the Lancer Evo X while editing the video, I did the same experiment overlaying the sound of the car from the chase view with the one from the cockpit. At the beginning you have the original audio but from 2:57 till the end of the video, only when I switch to the cockpit view, what you hear are the two audio clips merged (for a fast comparision, 0:10 standard on board sound, 3:06 merged audio files).

First of all I want to to apologize to my foreign fans but I found it challenging only speaking in Italian for this first VLOG so I did not even try to do it in English XD But you can still use subtitles ;)
So finally here you are the much-anticipated VLOG. Hope youll be happy to see my lovely face for the first time after all these years hahah I made this video mainly for two reasons:
1. Something special to celebrate and satisfy all the 200,000 follower on my main channel;
2. Help my friend Simone, owner of this RX-7, to show a bit of his work and hostory of his car.
So after an embarassing introduction youll join me in a chat with my friend Simone talking about his Mazda RX-7, history, bad facts, mods plus a little ride on the street. The car is still to be finished by the body shop mechanic who still has to better fit the kit, silicon it, adjust some parts of the body that scrape on the rear wheels and finally paint the whole car. Cant wait so see the final result and do a proper video with a car thats so hard to find here in Italy!
Even though I made some mistakes and uncertainties I really hope you enjoyed it! Of course Ill try to improve with the next videos ;)
