Emilija Škarnulytė is a Lithuanian-born artist and filmmaker whose work probes deep time, ecological collapse, and the overlap of science and myth. For Folkestone Triennial 2025, she presents Burial, an immersive film and sculptural installation reflecting on what civilisation leaves behind, from fossil cliffs to nuclear ruins. Škarnulytė’s practice blends documentary and speculative fiction to explore human and non-human histories in extreme environments, including nuclear sites and submerged cities. Awarded the 2023 Ars Fennica and 2019 Future Generation Art Prize, her work has been shown at MoMA PS1, Gwangju Biennale, and Venice Architecture Biennale. She lives and works nomadically, with a solo show opening at Tate St Ives in October 2025.
