I was inspired to make this film by a few things, cordyceps mushrooms which infect and control the minds of ants, causing them to climb up as high as possible so that when the mushroom finally bursts from the ants head the spores are spread as far as possible by the wind. Too create this film I combed the Prelinger Archive for interesting footage, collected a few hundred segments, and then proceeded to cut it up in ways so that each edit was interesting because of how the shots meanings collide with each other, or collide within a short sequence to create unexpected, and often hard to explain relationships and meanings. Sort of like a montage made of cut up magazine images. I then shot a couple things to expand on some of the themes that emerged organically, The unbreaking egg, the dissolving coffee creamer and the smashed glass plate.
