Ever wondered what a Siemens star is? Our Director of Photography, Johannes Straub, explains how this tool is essential for properly focusing fisheye lenses when filming for fulldome projection:
1. Position the Siemens star in the center of the action
2. Open the lens aperture all the way
3. Adjust the focus until the edges of the star pattern are sharp and in focus
It's important to note that even though it's a fisheye lens, you still need to carefully pull focus across the entire frame, as the edges can sometimes be out of focus.
