G'day chaps and chappettes! Might I present my humble submission to this week's hardware jams challenge (see below). For me, I took the opportunity to explore some of the FM capabilities of the Peak. This was my first real attempt at sound design, especially on the Novation Peak but the black arts started to reveal themselves to me. Ended up with some patches that I will use in the future and this jam while stuffing around. The Deluge added a bunch more FM patches for some sheer insanity. Anyways, enjoy this mess!
Hardware Jams Challenge:
This week, we ask you to play with the weird and wonderful FM!
FM is a wonderful type of synthesis, utilising carriers, modulation and algorithms, it has given birth to some very clever patches. From the Lately Bass to the Electric Pianos, From Bells to Kicks, FM has brought about a way of thinking when approaching sound design! BUT FM doesn't mean we all need to go out and buy a DX7 or 4, FM could be anything from LA Synthesis to Filter FM. You could tune a radio or LFO the pitch on a sample. FM means it's time for some Frequency Modulation! (Of course if you have something born to do FM, feel free to use it but I'm watching you gits who try to circumnavigate the rules by just playing in F minor... ). At the very least, lets be using oscilators to affect things at audio rates and see what mental stuff we can come up with!
My gear:
Synthstrom Deluge, Novation Peak, Novation Circuit Tracks, Behringer TD-3, Behringer Model D, Behringer Neutron, Behringer Pro-1, Behringer UMC202HD, Korg NTS-01, Korg Volca Bass & FM
