I was driving home the other day from work when this song came on, and the funny thing is I had heard it several times before but for some reason this time it just hit me and I got this idea! I'm so happy I finally got to do a dedicated Eugene video, because he really deserves it ^^
Also I'd just like to give a preface...
So this song is about God, and being saved by God's grace, and I really tried to represent it that way. And I want to make it clear that in no way, shape or form is Rapunzel supposed to be like God to him, but rather, I'm presenting it as if God has used Rapunzel in Eugene's life in order to help him see the light and live a righteous life. Because God really can and does use people as His hands and feet to do His work in the world and in other peoples' lives. And in this story, you could say Rapunzel is almost like an angel to him, sent from God to be a picture of goodness and light. And when you think about it, it really is like Rapunzel is an angel...Her mother drank from the potion made from the healing sundrop flower that fell from the heavens, thus transferring those miracle powers to Rapunzel.
Another aspect of this that I love is the fact that the relationship between Rapunzel and Eugene is such a beautiful example of selfless, Christ-like love, which we are called to emulate as Believers.
Not only did Rapunzel sacrifice her freedom so that Eugene could live, but Eugene sacrificed his life so that she could have her freedom.
They both died to themselves, and in his case, quite literally.
It's such an amazing love story unlike I've ever seen told by Disney.
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
~John 15:13
And of course it paints a wonderful parallel to the ultimate love story of how Jesus Christ (Yehoshua HaMashiach) gave his life so that we all may find deliverance.
In the life of a true Believer, you can find evidence of the Creator. And similarly, in stories like this, though it may be unintentional...you can find parallels to things far bigger than just the movie. And if it is unintentional, the Biblical connections in this movie...then that to me just proves how no matter what we do as humans, the Creator is imbued in us and in all that we do. We cannot escape Him, even if we try. And the fruit that comes from us can show forth evidence of the Spirit.
I hope this video blesses you all today, and that each and every one of you may find peace in the Lord's presence. And if you do not yet know Him, know that He is good, and He is just waiting for you to begin a relationship with Him!
P.S. When I was making this video, I was reminded of a community post I made a while back where I posted a picture edit with a Bible verse, so I thought it very fitting that I use that same Bible verse for this video ☺
