Just north of Los Angeles, is the Tehachapi valley, home to Mountain Valley airport and the Skylark North Glider Flight School. I fly my 1946 Aeronca Chief from Whiteman airport in Pacoima, CA to Tehachapi, land and then take my first glider flight lesson!

Cool places and experiences like this still exist in 2026, but you have to seek them out. This place even has a campground. Camp and fly sailplanes!
