Today at L.A. LIVE, California-based Archer Aviation unveiled its Midnight electric air taxi in a special Team USA design—and announced plans with AEG to build a vertiport in the heart of downtown Los Angeles.
The aircraft carries four passengers plus a pilot and is designed to turn hour-long drives into 10-to-20-minute flights. Archer’s proposed network could eventually connect downtown with LAX, SoFi Stadium, USC, Santa Monica, Hollywood Burbank Airport and Orange County.
The goal is to have the L.A. LIVE location operating by the 2028 Olympics—but the aircraft still needs final FAA approval, and final fares have not been announced. Archer says it ultimately wants pricing comparable to an Uber Black.
Air taxis won’t solve L.A. traffic—at least not yet. But today’s unveiling offered a glimpse at how commuting across Los Angeles could change.
