Is this the end of traditional drone framing? The end of mechanical gimbals on drones? Today we’re diving into the DJI Avata 360, the most ambitious consumer camera drone from DJI to date. While the Avata 2 brought FPV to the masses, the Avata 360 changes the game by capturing every single angle of your flight simultaneously - and then reuse every shot in an infinite number of ways!
The Avata 360 features a unique tiltable camera module housing dual 1-inch CMOS sensors. This allows the drone to record in 8K spherical resolution, giving you massive flexibility in post-production. Whether you’re shooting in 360° mode or switching to the dedicated forward-facing FPV mode, the creative things you can do with the Avata 360 are completely different than what you can do with a traditional camera drone.
The biggest advantage of a 360 drone is "shot insurance." You no longer need to worry about perfectly framing a subject while piloting the drone. You simply fly the line, and reframe the shot later in the DJI Studio app. This allows you to get shots that would have been impossible (or at least very difficult) without the Avata 360.
