The off-trail route from Logan Pass over to Lake McDonald Lodge is not for the casual hiker, but if you have some route-finding skills and some stamina, the legendary Floral Park Traverse is a stunner. With over 20 miles and 5,000ft up and 8,000 down, you cross multiple drainages and have views of jagged peaks, alpine meadows, ponds, tarns, and lakes, a glacier and loads of waterfalls on a satisfyingly exhausting day.
