Here is a fun project to try. You can design a cross that appears to be floating in the air! I will give you general directions for making this build and a pattern near the end of the video. Just make a screen capture of the pattern from my video, paste it into a document and size it for your desired project.
I glued my paper pattern onto olivewood, drilled holes into the closed sections of the heart. Using my scroll saw I first cut out the closed sections and then cut out the perimeter of the cross. You may also use a hand coping saw, but this is a tricky cut for a hand saw. If you want further help you can view my earlier video for making the knife hold here:

Experiment with your distance until you can get it balanced. Have fun!
