Geek With Social Skills | Flipping the original Apple II Karateka disk upside down - Broderbund 1984 by Jordan Mechner @geekwithsocialskills | Uploaded July 2021 | Updated October 2024, 3 hours ago.
In a viewer comment on my Apple IIc flat panel color display video I was asked about my original Karateka game disk: "Wait - that's an original Karateka disk, and you didn't try to boot the flip side?" I replied: "Yep, it's an original Karateka disk by Jordan Mechner. I never thought about trying to boot the flip side. I'll go try it now." I went ahead and tried it. I was really surprised at what happened, so I made this video showing the outcome.
Thanks to Jordan Mechner for programming this Easter egg into the original Karateka game disk for the Apple II computer. Karateka published by Broderbund in 1984.
