Often people try to fill in the blanks when it comes to flip clock history, using eBay listing logic or some other form of Mind Meld or Jedi Mind Trick. Here we try to set the record straight on one of the most common errors in logic when dating items made in Germany. While we do this we take a very close look at the Köhler Flip Clock of 1953-1956 - including disassembly (we're going to look at what makes it tick). We also discover a distant relative to the Köhler Flip Clock that while different on the outside, may be identical on the inside. Finally, we uncover some dark history surrounding WWII about the company that made this clock, Uhrenfabrik Laufamholz Köhler & Co and get the scoop on where this first modern-type flip clock was actually made.
In this episode, continuing our proof that everything is related to flip clocks, we show how a rusty old 1950s car from an obscure American Car Manufacture is related to flip clocks. We also mention reddit (whose members helped me with getting information right), and World War II history.
