On the one hand you get fat man Degrasse Tyson informing us that you can not see the curvature of the Earth, due to the sheer size of the Earth, yet, you get told that the reason you can no longer see a ship as it travels out to sea is because it has gone over the horizon (the curve)..Hmm, seems a wee bit of a contradiction, don't you think? LOL.
The fact is that the Earth curvature can been seen/measured and there is a simple formula to prove this. Miles squared x 8". So over a distance of 10 miles you use the sum 10 miles x 10 miles x 8 inches (then divide by 12 to convert to feet) = 800 inches which equates to 66.66 feet.. Easily measurable and exponential the further the distance..
