🚜 Rural Road Condition Assessment Update
For the past couple of weeks, a Tetra Tech vehicle has been driven on rural roads throughout Flagstaff County, collecting data for our 2025 Rural Road Condition Assessment.
The project is now over halfway complete — more than 3,000 km have been assessed out of the approximate total of 5,000 km. Work is continuing across the County. 📊
📊 What’s happening?
Flagstaff County is gathering detailed information on the condition of our gravel road network. Collected through advanced techniques like LiDAR and georeferenced imaging, the data will help us evaluate and plan for future road maintenance and capital projects.
🛠️ Why does this project matter?
• Ensures an efficient and cost-effective arterial and collector road system
• Supports agricultural and industrial traffic needs
• Helps reduce the impact of heavy trucks on local roads
• Continues our long-term commitment to maintaining and improving infrastructure
📖 Background:
Our current Road Network System is based on a comprehensive study completed in 2013. This new assessment builds on that work, aligning with the goals outlined in Flagstaff County’s 2025 Business Plan and Budget.
