How to remove the NIS binding plate for tighter more accurate and flat fit of your backcountry bindings to your skis. I show how you can use a simple heat gun and how you successfully remove the NIS plate. It is also demonstrated how it can go bad and what you need to think about when you remove the NIS plate so that you don’t destroy the top coat of your skies. Often it is claimed that the NIS plate is something that is part of the ski and it can be argued that as such integrated part, it should not be removed because it will influence the properties or the skies. This is incorrect because then it would not work to have; 1. Exactly the same NIS plate is used for a number o fiery different skies with also very different lengths. 2. It is too short to affect the entire bending of the ski since it only covers about 40 cm. So REMEMBER – do is slowly and push it off with a good tool instead of pull it off once you have a grip. All the best luck!
