UPDATE 01/27/2016: This issue has been fixed by updating to El Capitan 10.11.3 and Nvidia Web Driver 346.03.05f01. We did it, internet!
Another reason to use a GTX 740 instead of a GTX 970: FCPX transitions crash using the Nvidia web drivers!
