How to Bleed Power steering System and Pump after Repairs Demonstrated on Jaguar X-TYPE
Fix Power Steering Whining & Bubbles: Jaguar X-TYPE Steering Bleeding Guide)
How to Bleed Power Steering System & Pump After Repairs | Jaguar X-TYPE
Did you just replace your power steering pump, rack, or high-pressure hoses? Getting the air out of the system is the most critical step to prevent pump damage and noisy "whining" sounds.
In this video, we demonstrate the step-by-step process of bleeding the power steering system on a Jaguar X-TYPE. While we are working on a Jag, this vacuum-assisted and manual turning method applies to many luxury and Ford-era vehicles.
What You’ll Learn:
The correct fluid type for the Jaguar X-TYPE.
How to perform a "dry" bleed before starting the engine.
The trick to removing stubborn air bubbles from the rack and pinion.
Signs that air is still trapped in your power steering pump.
🛠 Tools Needed:
Fresh Power Steering Fluid (Refer to your manual for specs)
Jack and Jack Stands (to get the front wheels off the ground)
Drain Pan and Rags
Note: Never hold the steering wheel at "full lock" for more than a few seconds while bleeding, as this creates extreme pressure that can blow out new seals.
