Installing updates on your windows system is pretty much good practise to improve system performanance. It provides lot of benefits and make your system secure. But sometimes installing updates can also creates problems and throw some errors. In this video I have tried to solve a critical issue that occurs while installing important updates on windows.

Causes of this error:
1 One of them is when You successfully install service pack and do not restart the system and then continue installing other updates. Now after installing these other updates, once you restart the system they gets conflict with the service pack. You get this error.
2 You might get caught in this situation, while downloading updates/patches using WSUS.

After Effects of this error:
1 You might lose important data due to file corruption.
2 System may get crashed due to excessive memory utilization.

First thing you need to remember that you will not be able to login to your system after getting this error. So in order to resolve this issue, you need an installation CD or a bootable USB of same operating system that is installed on your system. I had Windows 8 installed on my system so I am using Windows 8 Installation CD or a Bootable USB for windows 8.

If you want to learn how to make a Bootable USB for windows 7, 8, or 10, then the links are at the top of this description.

Reboot your computer while its starting up.

Once you are ready with installation CD insert it into CD ROM or Plug in the Bootable USB Stick. Start your system and we need to select the boot device.

As per the boot menu options for your system press the key. Now from the menu, select appropriate boot device. If you are using installation CD then select CD Rom Drive and if you are using Bootable USB Stick, then select Removable Device and hit enter.

Once you select the boot device, your system will start boot from the selected device. Press any key to continue and you will end up on this screen. Click next and click on "Repair your computer"

Click on Troubleshoot. Select Advanced Options and then select Command Prompt.

First type C: and hit enter.
Here C Drive is the one which holds operating system for my laptop. It may be different for you. So select the directory accordigly. Now type notepad.exe and hit enter.
It will launch the notepad.
Go to file -- Open, Chang the types of files notepad views from .txt to All Files.
Now go to C:\Windows\WinSxS
winsxs is the folder which holds all the downloaded and pending updates for your system.
In this folder, find pending.xml. Right click on it copy and paste it there itself using the key stroke CTRL+V.
Now select the original pending.xml file.

It will Usually take a lot of time to load because it a huge file.

Once the file loads, then click CTRL+F. Search dialogue box will appear and then type the exact text appearing on screen here. Thats 16times zeros.cdf-ms.

You mainly have to check these three sections
"Checkpoint"
"DeleteFilePath" and
"MoveFileSource"
You may not have DeleteFilePath and MoveFileSource section in some cases. So what we need to do here is, we need to identify if any one of these section contains this text. If yes then delete that section. Be careful while deleting anything. Delete only Checkponit, DeleteFilePath and MoveFileSource sections.
Watch the video carefully to see how to delete these sections.

Now as we have deleted this lines, go again and search the same text as you might have multiple entries for this. So search and delete every CheckPoin DeleteFilePath and MoveFileSource that contains this text.

Once you complete this, simply go to file option and select save. Now restart your computer and the error you were receiving will be gone. That's it. I hope you like the video. Keep sharing it. Provide your valuable comments in the below comment box.
