Many users face cd or dvd drive is not recognized by windows or other programs after installing the operating system or upgrading to Windows 10/8.1, Because of this the DVD drive is not appearing neither in Windows Explorer (File Explorer) or nor in Device Manager.

DVD Driver is not detected at all by Windows or if it’s visible in device manager, then it’s not working.You might find a exclamation mark too in device manager for your DVD Drive in device manager. Also, if you insert in disk in DVD ROM, it’ll flash the LED lights on it for a while, but nothing would happen

3. Create a registry subkey
4. In the elevated prompt, paste or type the following command and press enter key:
reg.exe add “HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0” /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001
5. Update or reinstall the DVD/CD driver
6. perofrm System Restore.
