Another shameless attempt at clickbait. You are, of course, at perfect liberty to read as much or as little of the shortlist as you choose. I have always dabbled in prize shortlists, initially as a way of finding great backlist suggestions, but later in an attempt to stay on top of the books du jour.

Shortlists seem important, but in this video I talk about five examples of Booker shortlisted novels that were forgettable and are mostly (and justly?) forgotten.
