'Pure' director Natalie Jasmine Harris tells us about her film which explores the story of a young Black girl who grapples with her queer identity and questions her purity on the eve of her cotillion ball.

The film is one of five films selected for Five Films for Freedom, running 17 – 28 March 2021 alongside BFI Flare, the LGBTIQ+ film festival.

Five Films for Freedom, the world's first global, digital LGBTIQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer) short-film programme is brought to you by the British Council and the British Film Institute (BFI), enabling people from all over the world to watch five films from the festival for free online.
