How to fit a staircase with winders in detail, this is a video that will show how I am fitting a made to measure Oak winder staircase to a new house following the plastering so we can keep the joinery in perfect condition.
I am joined by Frank Schipano an award winning carpenter from Melbourne in Australia who has come to witness and help with the installation
In this part of my staircase construction with winders series I am now fitting the final newel post, curtail tread and then fixing the staircase back to the wall. I also use cross grain pellets to hide the screw holes. Then its onto the tread protection that Frank had made from a sheet of 6mm plywood and I get the glue blocks done from the underside
That concludes the initial staircase fit and now the client will get it oiled before we fit the stair spindles
This part of fitting a staircase can be difficult and its really important to do a dry run to make sure everything comes together nicely
