OneMoreBolt | Fitting 28x10 Slicks on the 1963 Nova - Radiused Quarters @OneMoreBolt | Uploaded March 2024 | Updated October 2024, 15 hours ago.
In true to Gasser style it's time to do some cutting. Unlike most modern style drag cars that inner fenders are tubbed and axles narrowed to accommodate meaty slicks, the gasser style takes a completely different approach, just cut the outer fender and let the meats hang out!
This is my 1963 Chevy II Nova that is in the process of being converted from an old bracket stock appearing car that ran 26x8 slicks to a gasser style drag car that will be fit with 28x10 slicks. 28x10s are still considered a small tire in the drag racing world, but for these little Chevy IIs they are much bigger than a stock wheel well will accommodate. Seeing as I have always had a fascination for the 1960's era gassers, that's the style I'm going for on this car which means the quarter panels have to be cut.
In this video I show the method of how I marked my quarter for cutting the radius using, cover the tools used to get the job done, and the first look at how the fitment turns out. This is a first for me so I wasn't exactly sure how this was going to work.
