I do not think it matters where you snag and I have caught cannonballs with normal lures, but this is a cheap location where I could repeatedly snag and get cannonballs.
1. Set drag to as low as possible. I'm doing this with ~40lb setup but I think any would work.
2. Cast behind the big rock and let the lure sink
3. Lift and drop as if you are fishing normally, letting it hit the bottom each time and settle
4. If you snag, move the rod rather than continue reeling. You will come loose sometimes but I found reeling releases the snag more often. I have found snags happen between about 75 and 40 feet away.
5. If the lure icon appears again after you move the rod, try again. If the lure icon has gone, then you are good to go. You still get boots and rags this way so don't be too upset if this doesnt work right away!
