Pokemon Red is a ground breaking and phenomenol classic by Nintendo. Red, along with Green were the first two Pokemon video games on the Gameboy Color and it began the rest of the Pokemon era. There are three fisherman brothers in the game that will give you fishing rods if you tell them you like to fish. The Old Rod, Good Rod, and Super Rod. Each giving you access to fish out many different Pokemon spread across the world.
Eventually it mostly becomes useful just for finding new pokemon since you catch them low level, even with the super rod. This fishing mini-game is among one of my favorite small things added that make Pokemon gen 1 into a creative and fun little handheld Gameboy Color game.
