This video shows how to tie the fishing line to the fishing reel in three different ways, using a rubber band as a friction enhancer. The rubber band essentially provides friction between the Nylon monofilament line and the plastic or metal of the spool on the reel. The attachment between the line and the spool is demonstrated using the Arbor knot, the Spool knot, or the Uni knot, which all are good knots that provide the knot strength required.

The rubber band method is most commonly used in saltwater fishing, where heavy lines that are thicker may more easily slip due to smaller surface interaction with the fishing spool.
