Kelso Lake in Minnesota’s Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is a small, shallow lake that packs some fun fishing into its 133 acres. With a maximum depth of just 16 feet, Kelso is home to northern pike, rock bass, yellow perch and white sucker.

One of the coolest things about Kelso is its location—it’s connected to Sawbill and Alton Lakes by short portages, making it a great stop for BWCA paddlers exploring the area. And with its shallow, bog-stained water, it has a completely different character from many of the deeper Boundary Waters lakes.

🎣 Come along as we explore Kelso Lake and see what’s biting in this beautiful corner of the BWCA!
