I’ve done pecan crusted fish before and it was good. But, I found another pecan crusted fish recipe that looks even better. What’s best is that’s even easier. Since I need to cull some of the small bass out of Lake Ketchabigwon anyway, let’s pick up some fish for this recipe. The recipes, fishing great, music credits and more are below.
Pecan Crusted Dijon Tilapia
Ingredients:
4 tilapia filets
1/2 cup mayo (not low fat)
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
1 tsp. butter (or Pam spray)
1/4 cup finely chopped pecans
Spread butter on metal baking pan.
Place filets on pan.
Combine mayo and Dijon and spread on filets.
Sprinkle with pecans.
Bake at 375 for about 10 minutes unless filets are extra large, then add about 2 minutes.

Cauliflower Mashers
Ingredients
1 average-sized head of cauliflower
4 ounces of softened cream cheese
4 tablespoons of softened salted butter
½ teaspoon of salt
½ teaspoon of garlic powder
½ teaspoon of onion powder
¼ cup of grated parmesan cheese
½ cup of shredded sharp cheddar
Instructions
Break cauliflower into florets. Microwave in loosely covered container for about 10 to 16 minutes until a fork will easily pass through the florets. Lay the cooked florets onto a paper towel and pat them dry. Load them into a food processor and process for a couple of minutes. Add the cream cheese, butter, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, parmesan and cheddar. Process until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Fishing Equipment:
The lure I used is a Z-Man Finesse TRD, color PBJ (peanut butter and jelly), 2¾ inches. It is attached to a Z-Man Finesse ShroomZ JigheadZ in 1/15 oz., color, black.
The line is Stren Original monofilament line in 8 pound test.
The baitcasting reel is a Shimano Calcutta 50B, from about 2004. This model is no longer made.
The baitcasting rod is a Shimano Compre, Model CPC68MC, 6’ 8” fast action, medium power. Suggested lure weight ⅛ to ¼ ounce. Suggested line weight 6 - 12 pound test.
The boat is a Bass Hunter I ordered from Bass Pro Shops about 12 years ago. They no longer sell it. Also, this model is no longer available, but newer models like it are still sold. FISH IN LAKE KETCHABIGWON:
largemouth bass, bluegill, white crappie, black crappie, yellow perch, channel catfish, and grass carp.
ABOUT LAKE KETCHABIGWON:
It is a private 6 acre reservoir type lake built in circa 1970, situated on 37 acres of land in NE Ohio.
WHY KEEP SMALL BASS:
We had biologists come out and do an electroshock survey of the lake. They found too many small, stunted bass. Their advice was to remove all bass under 12 inches, and to release the bigger ones. This rule is usually the opposite in large public lakes.
