Footage captured on a camera trap in southeastern Brazil might be the first to record jaguars meowing. It is well known that _Panthera_ species – tigers, lions, jaguars, leopards, and snow leopards – can make roaring noises thanks to their larger vocal cords. It was thought however that jaguars and other large cats can’t meow thanks to their vocal cords and the morphology of their hyoid bones. However, this footage captured on a camera trap in Iguaçu National Park begs to differ.
