When we put new technology into the world, we need human-centered methods to understand their impact. This talk will present three focus areas of my research in how people use AI and how that shapes them; 1. The cognitive and metacognitive costs of AI, 2. How people red-team LLMs in the wild, and 3. Hacc-Man - an arcade game for fostering AI literacy.
Bio: Nanna Inie, Assistant Professor, IT-University of Copenhagen
People describe Nanna as "a methodological savant", "a Pandora's Box of unfiltered opinions", and "who?" She uses mixed-methods to study how humans use technology to extend their cognition, evaluate how technology affects human cognition in return, and to transform findings into the design of novel technologies.
She is an assistant professor at the IT-University of Copenhagen and a lecturer at the University of Washington. Her specializations are cognitive augmentation tools, computing education, and AI safety in real-world settings.
