I finally visited the legendary Soong Kee Beef Ball Noodle in Kuala Lumpur one of the city’s most famous heritage beef noodle shops, serving customers since 1945. The dry noodles come coated in a dark, savory minced beef-and-pork sauce, while the soup side brings beef balls, beef slices, and tripe in a clear, flavorful broth. If you love classic KL hawker food, this is one of those essential eats that deserves a spot on your list.
The noodles have that perfect springy texture, the meat sauce is deeply umami, and the homemade chili adds the extra kick that makes the whole bowl come alive. Soong Kee is also known for its family legacy and multiple branches, but the original Jalan Tun H.S. Lee location remains the one most people associate with the brand.
