I've only had a little experience with Assassin's Creed. I didn't like the first one, loved and beat the second one and have never played any since. AC3 was supposed to be alright, with the ship mechanic being particularly memorable so apparently Ubisoft decided to make a game based around that.
Let's see how good pirate combat actually is!
