Hope you all had a happy Christmas, and that 2013 will bring you all that you hope for. I got a new soldering iron, so have been able to get on with a project that has been cluttering up the place for a while now.
This poor old machine was my Dads, but has spent at least the past 30 years or so in the loft. This is part 1 of the work I am going to do.
So far, all I have done is re-cap it. I didn't want to spend ages on the cabinet and turntable id the amp was a dud.
I seem to have a noisy transformer, but I hope that I can damp the noise down a bit when it is properly rebuilt.
This one has a single UL41 valve, and is a bit quiet, but I think that is because the CD player can't really deliver enough power to drive it properly. The cartridge that was in it is an ACOS GP91-3, which seems to be in good shape. I will put a new stylus in and test it with that once I have the turntable sorted out..
