First Picture Of Mersane Warria Mother Who Killed Her Own Children In Sydney
This is the first picture of the mum arrested after eight children were found dead in a house in Cairns, Australia.
The 37-year-old woman, believed to be Mersane Warria, was held by police investigating the tragedy.
The bodies of the youngsters, ranging in age from 18 months to 15 years, were discovered in a property in Cairns, northern Queensland.
Detective Inspector Bruno Asnicar said the woman, who was hospitalised on Friday with stab wounds, was lucid and awake and talking to police.
Asnicar said the woman was the mother of seven of the dead children.
The eighth child was her niece.
Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott called the incident an "unspeakable crime", adding all parents would feel "gut-wrenching sadness at what has happened".
