Giant squids have long been subject to humankind's fascination-- but while images of them may be easily accessed today, there was a time when they were little more than folklore among sailors. Everything changed when clergyman Moses Harvey photographed a dead giant squid for the first time in 1874 during his studies in Newfoundland, Canada. The photo itself is both fascinating and haunting.
