If you watched my last video, you'd know that I recently started a partnership with OneTigris to test and review new products. This partnership allowed me to first test their new 2 person backpacking tent, the Cosmitto, and now I get to test their newly released duck down camping blanket. I am the first to do a YouTube review on it which is awesome visibility for my rapidly growing channel !
This blanket has some neat features that really help it stand out amongst the many other similar blankets on the market. Coming in at less that $60 on Amazon with Prime shipping, its a great budget option that's built to last.
Its constructed with a 300T polyester micro rip-stop outer ( in either OD green, blue or orange) with a DWR coating, smoother yet still very durable 300T polyester pongee inner lining and contains 300g of duck down that give it a very respectable 40° temp rating.
One benefit of thicker exterior fabric is that it keeps air in the chambers extremely well unlike the much thinner taffeta fabrics used on similar blankets. This also greatly increases the retention of its precious 300 grams of duck down insulation which is a major issue with lighter and non-calendered fabrics.
Another neat feature are the 6 snaps that allow it to be turned into a " cloak" of sorts so it can be worn as a poncho liner or around camp on those brisk fall mornings we all love.
Overall, I think this blanket checks many of the boxes we look for when buying budget outdoor gear. While it might not be the lightest at 29.5oz, largest @ 6.4' × 4.4' , or least expensive, its durability and versatility make it more that worth the $60 price tag. Its construction is on par with other OneTigris products, well put together, although I did find several thread ends around the exterior that weren't loose just not trimmed.
I'm extremely impressed with its ability to retain trapped air when pressure was applied, showcasing its extreme resistance to warmth robbing wind due to their descision to use heavier fabrics. So, let me know what you think.... Is this a good budget option or just another cheap down blanket? I do think it could be a little larger but that's not a deal breaker for me.
