My Point of View
In business, first impressions and successful personal branding are not accidental outcomes.
Let's be intentional about the image, energy and credibility we bring into the room. People are immediately forming a view about our professionalism, intelligence, judgement and competence.
🎩 Know the Rule to Break the Rule
26. Q: What’s the rule for shoe care in men’s style?
When you get home, using a shoe shining cloth, clean and shine your shoes to restore the shine to the medallion in case you have scuffed the shoes. The shoes are then ready to go for the next occasion you want to wear them. Then place the shoes in cedar shoe trees to let them dry out and retain their shape. Rotating shoes every day is important too, this allows them to recover between wears.
👔 The 4 Vs of Executive Presence:
Visual - Do I look prepared, credible and appropriate for the situation?
Vocal - Does my voice tone sound calm and confident?
Verbal - Are my comments clear, concise and beneficial?
Value - Am I making a useful difference to the people and business around me?
🎯 Today’s Executive Presence Intention
Today’s meetings: Client meeting in Marunouchi
The impression I wanted to create: I wanted to look credible for the client meeting.
The Impression Construction Elements
Suit: Versace Milano 1978 grey Prince Of Wales check with a mauve window pane pattern, Peak Lapels, Barchetta breast pocket, 35mm double cuffs, flap pockets, side vents.
Shirt: Custom white shirt with a Cooper Collar, and English Cuffs. Abbeyhorn Holme 1749 horn collars stays from Kirby Allison Dallas 2007.
Cufflinks: Versace Greek Key design silver cufflinks.
Pocket Square: Purple pocketsquare in a reverse puff from David Jones Sydney 1838. Stabiliser from Kuska Fabrics Kyoto 1936.
Watch: Vintage 37mm rectangular steel case Longines Saint-Imier 1832 S30 EFCo which has a black face on the dial and a steel strap.
Fragrance: Halfeti Eau de Parfum Penhaligon’s London 1870
👞 High Shine Shoes: The high shine shoes were TLB Mallorca 1946 burgundy Adelaide Oxfords Artista series with a Picasso last and punched toe cap French calf from the D'Annonay tannery 1838.
✨ Today’s Featured Detail: The Cooper Collar, high and firm, stands out in a sea of men going without ties in summer.
One Rule to Remember: Normal business shirts can easily get swalowed up by the collar of the jacket and we look disheveled.
