First ever sub hour speedrun in Metroid Dread! It's here, it finally happened, let's gooooooo! For the moment this is the fastest Metroid Dread game clear!

Despite having a less than desirable early game, I was able to pull through and play much better in the second half of the run, just enough that we clutched the 59:56!

I'm very happy for hitting the sub-hour milestone! It's a big moment for me and I believe for the community as well. This is the first game I ever took to speedrunning and it's been an incredibly fun experience to compete with myself and others, learning and discovering wacky tech and just really having such a good time.

For now I still plan on running other categories but my grind is going to slow down a bit.

* Putting to use tech and movement optimizations I came up with in a few places ;)

FAQ

What does "Legacy" mean?
- Unrestricted Legacy categories are played in early versions of the game (1.0.0 - 1.0.2). These versions have access to the Invincibility Glitch which has been patched since version 1.0.3 and cannot be performed on the later patches. This glitch allows us to skip Varia Suit in this route which is not possible otherwise which ends up saving roughly 3 minutes over Unrestricted Current patch.

Do you use button remaps?
- I've remapped Left and Right D-Pad to Y to facilitate mashing, and the Right-Stick to the Left-Stick which makes early cloak pseudo more consistent for me.
