Back in March 2025, I first discovered the Yamaha CP70. It seemed like such a cool instrument. I had to have one. In my local group, someone said they had one and I was very excited. So I attempted to connect with them, but it just kept not working out, eventually I gave up in June. So then I went on to looking at different pianos. I thought I'd love the Roland FP-30X. It got great reviews. Actually, back up, I thought I would get another Korg D1. But then I went in to Guitar Center and they had a Korg SV1 and I didn't care for the keybed at all... The same was also true of the Roland FP-30X. Might actually hate that keybed more.

Well, eventually I discovered the world of stage pianos and there are quite a few. I was looking on Guitar Center's website at used gear and I thought maybe I'd want the Yamaha S90, but everyone said get the ES version, of which, I couldn't find any. Then I stumbled on Kawai. I found they had an MP10, which was around $1000 at GC. I was about to buy it, but just wanted to see what other options there were, since I hadn't been testing them in person. The MP11 and MP11se were way too outside my comfort zone for buying.

But then, two weeks ago, I was at my daughter's swim lesson and I pulled up Reverb, looking at MP10's. And this listing shows up. "MP11se" for cheap, but was local only. I wrote to the person asking if they'd ship it and for how much. They said they'd cover shipping but I'd better buy it quickly due to the price. So I bought that thing as fast as I could.

The seller calls me, and we chatted for a while. He asked me if I'd ever played this before, I said I hadn't. He ships it out the next day. It arrives a few days later. Couldn't believe my luck. Well - then I saw it, a massive dent on the back of it. Such a bummer. They shipped the pedal on the back and that had no give so when it hit the side, the pedal dented the back. Thankfully nothing electronic or mechanical was there, just some wires. The seller didn't really have to offer me anything, since the deal was so good, but they refunded me $100. So I ended up getting a Kawai MP11SE for cheap minus $100 -_-

The seller? Turns out he's a celebrity... but I won't give it away. Was cool either way. And the guy was super nice. A deal of a lifetime honestly.

Anyway, it's glorious, but... now I have a huge piano and the Rhodes piano and I'm starting to wonder... should that Rhodes stay? The MP11SE does a good replication of the Rhodes... sigh...
