Thanks to a committed group of creative friends and wonderful supporters, we hosted a three-day zero waste event that attracted thousands of people, produced less than two bags of garbage after recycling and composting, and showcased amazing artists, filmmakers, entertainers and speakers, including Canadian award-winning musical legends Ann Mortifee and world renown flutist Paul Horn, plus Holly Artnzen and Kevin Wright; the Getting Higher Choir; Mae Moore; Daniel Lapp; Mike Demers, Colleen Eccelston, and many, many more. And if that wasn't enough, there was also a film festival, eco fashion show, art show, workshops, displays, a free community outdoor dance party with DJ's and opportunities to meet heroworkers involved with saving salmon, old growth forests, biodiversity, democracy, and making the connection to the environment with social justice issues. Great food also brought people together as many of the city's first food trucks were introduced at the festival.
