Swedish duo First Aid Kit released their highly anticipated album Ruins on January 19.
Produced by Tucker Martine (My Morning Jacket, Laura Veirs), the album was recorded in Portland, OR where the duo collaborated with amazing musicians — REM’s Peter Buck, Wilco’s Glenn Kotche, and Midlake’s McKenzie Smith. Ruins is now available and includes lead single “It’s A Shame” as well as “Postcard”.
Ruins follows the band’s Columbia Records debut Stay Gold, a lush and ambitious 10-song collection that beautifully captures their vivid storytelling, landing First Aid Kit countless “Best of 2014” accolades. Earlier this spring, the duo also released a stand-alone single on International Women’s Day entitled "You Are The Problem Here". It is an empowered, passionate, and angry song that confronts the rape culture epidemic, with a portion of proceeds donated to Women for
Women International.
We met them in Paris, at "Le Passage du Grand Cerf" for an acoustic live of their first single: "My Silver Lining".

Adrien Gallo, le leader des BB Brunes, sort un album solo, Gemini, dans lequel les chansons Pop aux mélodies sensuelles senchainent dans un tourbillon de musique rétro. Australian singer Josef Salvats fame pretty much came out of nowhere, when his cover of Rihannas hit Diamonds got viral thanks to internet. His tortured voice, completed with a slow melancholic instrumental background widening the painful wound, perfectly catches the spirit of the song and revisited it with great talent and simplicity. Not so long ago, Josef was still a law student in Sydney, and now his song is featured in the new Sony commercial, playing everywhere. Accompanied by a piano, he offered us a very nice acoustic version of his own interpretation of a song written in 14 minutes by Sia Furler, with a music composed by Benjamin Levine, and first interpreted by Rihanna… Complicated you said?
La renommée du chanteur Australien Josef Salvat sest construite subitement autour de son interprétation du titre Diamonds de Rihanna, dont lenregistrement est devenu viral sur le web en peu de temps. Sa voix torturée, complétée par un lent fond musical dont la tonalité mélancolique agrandit encore un peu plus cette blessure douloureuse, capture avec justesse et sensibilité latmosphère de la chanson, la revisitant avec talent et simplicité. Il ny a pas très longtemps encore, Josef était un étudiant en Droit à Sydney, et maintenant on peut entendre sa voix sur tous nos écrans, Sony ayant choisi ce titre pour mettre sa nouvelle publicité en musique. Tove Styrke is a 22-year-old Swedish singer, who started her career very young with her well-noticed participation in the TV Show ‘Swedish Idol’ when she was 18. Following the show, she signed with Sony Music and released a debut album which went quickly platinum!
With an early success, the scandinavian artist has yet gained maturity with her EP ‘Borderline’, released in 2014, and even more with her second album named ‘Kiddo‘, which will be released very soon.
Mixing various influences, we can find in these new titles electro pop, ska, reggae and groovy touches, which remind us of Gwen Stefani, Santigold as well as her renowned fellow Lykke Li.
For this coming album, the artist also got inspired by her recent trips in Japan – the title of the album referring to Kill Bill’s main character Beatrix ‘Black Mambo’ Kiddo.

Jamie N Commons was born in Bristol (UK) but was raised in Chicago. He gets passionnate with folk, american blues and rock. His powerful and husky voice help him making his way to the top. He did the first part of Bruce Springsteen concert in June 2013. He also worked with Eminem on the song Desperation, extract of the album The Marshall Mathers LP2.
