David Leonhardt is a Pultizer-prize winning writer for The New York Times, where he has spent decades covering the American economy. Richard Thaler is a University of Chicago economics professor, author and pioneering behavioral economist who won the 2017 Nobel Prize in Economics.

In a wide-ranging fireside chat, Thaler will interview Leonhardt about the state of the American economy, politics and policy, and how we got to this point. The discussion will draw on Leonhardt’s recent book "Ours Is the Shining Future: The Story of the American Dream", which explores the rise and fall of this defining ideal—and what Americans can do to revive the dream once more.

Fireside chat led by Professor Ulrike Malmendier, Co-sponsored by the Robert G. and Sue Douthit O’Donnell Center for Behavioral Economics
