Part 1:
In 2010, Francisco Poplar, the professor of the southwest and midwestern US region, decides to experiment on Pokemon life by injecting human DNA samples. Many of the samples came from him. Trainers would catch on Poplar's unorthodox experimentation and then find out he is experimenting on the ancient Pokemon, Mew.
By 2012, Francisco Poplar would clone a Mew, give each clone two sexes in hopes of reproduction, keep the clones frozen in a cryogenic fridge and then take his life. He also ordered his son, Alcatraz, to replace him upon his death. Alcatraz has no plan to continue the experiments, but an animal rights group (which became a cult) demanded that Alcatraz shouldn't even be a professor.
Gabe White (also known as Alphonse or Al) leads the group, claiming that the Pokemon Alcatraz and Francisco Poplar experimented on will cause the end of the world, and vows to destroy the Pokemon before it even happens (think of it like a combination of the Branch Davidians and the Manson Family cults).
The anti-Pokemon cult wants to destroy the lab, but a ranger named Clementine Russel hears this plan, tells Alcatraz, and agrees to escape with as many supplies as possible. He leaves the cryogenic fridge keeping Pinky and her clone. Once the cult does break in the lab, they destroy the building, but the fridge is left unscathed.
Everyone involved was arrested, but Gabe himself would be bailed out by a friend. He even keeps his job. As for Alcatraz and Clementine? Well, Alcatraz found out that Clementine is pregnant with her first child, Kasper, and her husband left presumably because of it. Alcatraz decides to father Kasper, but at the same time wants to hide.
However, things go wrong 6 years later, once Kasper gets his first Pokeball. He sneaks out of the house, gets lost, and meets Gabe White, who kidnaps and murders Kasper. Once Clementine and Alcatraz find out about his death, they sadly divorce, and the region condemns the anti-Pokemon cult now known as the FIRE Team.
