Like Dozer, it's possible to beat Judah in your first encounter with him.
Use the Magic Ring on your best mage with Excalibur. If it's not enough, have him burn his HP by attacking him with units that can survive the counter. Remember that he can only be damaged on turns that are multiples of 4. (4, 8, 12, 16 etc).
Due to changes in the mechanics, this method may not work in Echoes.
