‘Fine Animal’ describe their music as ‘indie electro, dream pop, glo-fi, chill wave music for ice skating’; well, that would be an apt description but this Columbus-based dream pop trio comprising of KC Wilder, Lucy Oaks and Kelan Gilbert is so much more than that. They have a knack for creating trippy, trance-inducing, deep electro beats regardless of material or circumstance.
Case in point: This mesmerizing dream pop tune entitled “Old Dollar”. At first listen, you wouldn't know that this spellbinding creation is based on a traditional work song ‘Old Dollar Mamie’ that was recorded in 1947 in Lambert Camp at the Mississippi State Penitentiary since it’s loaded with futuristic beats and halo, effects-laden vocals.
Listen to “Old Dollar” by Fine Animal and I guarantee you that the only thing that would get old is the replay button.
