Some DSOs can have such wildly varied brightness that detail is lost beneath. The Cat's Eye Nebula is one such. Within the Cat's Eye is a planetary nebula that surrounds a dying Wolf-Rayet star. The core nebula is so bright compared to the outer nebula that attempts to develop the Cat's Eye will end with the core totally blown out every time. Addressing such a problem means processing your data more than once, each time developing for entirely different conditions.
