Kuulei Aona came to Windward Community College searching for a new direction. Through Hawaiian Studies and her work at Kamālaakahoe, Windward’s Hawaiian Studies māla, she found purpose, community and a place to call home.
Along the way, Kuulei earned an Associate in Arts and Academic Subject Certificate in Hawaiian Studies and grew into an alakaʻi, helping mentor fellow student workers and care for the ʻāina that helped shape her own journey.
Now, she’s taking her next step at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo, where she is continuing her studies in tropical agriculture with a minor in Hawaiian Studies.
For Kuulei, success is no longer just about where a career can take her. It’s about serving her community and helping the next generation thrive.
